Almost there

These really are good value bibs. I prefer the chamois to their standard Ultimate pad. I wish they would start offering this chamois in their other bibs (summer, cargo, winter)--it's a lot better. Whereas I got a bit of numbness after 20 miles or so in their Summer Ultimate bibs, I don't in these.

As far as the fit goes, I'm 6'1" @ 185 lbs with a 32" inseam. I'm between sizes for The Black Bibs. I prefer the compression I get from L but the straps on that size feel a bit too short. The straps are more comfortable on the XL but they're not as compressive. Still totally usable either way; just a matter of what you prioritize.

My main gripes with these bibs--and what ultimately convinced me to pony up for bibs in the >$200 price range elsewhere--is the cut of the chamois that makes it hard for me to go much more than 30 miles in these things.
(1) Purely aesthetic: I get major MAMIL toe in the front and I'm a bit self conscious when I'm off the bike.
(2) More functional: the pad is cut either too high or too low in the front depending on how you look at it. The end of the chamois and the seam where it joins up with the lycra is directly over my bits and pieces when I'm in the riding position. This leads to some really annoying rubbing that has me frequently adjusting myself while riding and can get painful after a while. Makes me want to stick a sock in there or something.

If you're built different down there and don't have the same issues I do with the chamois then these undoubtedly become some of the best non-cargo bibs you can buy for less than $200. As it is, these are my go-to bibs for shorter rides but I reach for something else when I'm going to be spending more than an hour or so in the saddle.

Best Chamois Yet!

'Just purchased my 2nd pair of Ultimate 3D's... The new chamois is all that! Super-comfortable from the start of the ride to the finish. I just wish it were available in the Cargo Bibs. The compression is a bit less restrictive than the original Ultimate's, which is nice. Dear TBB: please put this chamois your Cargo Bibs!!!!!

Great bib, pad is great, on the level of top Castelli and Assos bibs. It became one of my most often go-to bibs, even though I have Castelli Premio and Assos bibs.

No Brainer Bibshorts !

I have been a fan of The Black Bibs for several years now. I have a number of their pieces, both tops and bottoms. I think these Ultimate 3D bibs with the Elastic Interface chamois might be the best thing they have ever offered. The bibs are very comfortable with just the right amount of compression. They also have a nice high-end look and feel that you might not expect at this price point. I got a second pair of these bibs during their Extra Small Flash Sale. While other brands like Pactimo and Pearl Izumi have discontinued extra small sizes. I appreciate The Black Bibs for having the full range of sizes as well as various leg lengths. In a world of $300 bibs, these are a no-brainer for me.

Perfect

I was long wearing bibs from Blackbibs but I found the pad a little thick and, on long rides, they would start to chafe, so I switched to another company (RedWhite) a few years ago, and was happier with the pad but they kept coming unstitched (the maker said it was my saddle). When I saw these I gave them a try and they have a pad as good or better than what I was using and I have never had any issues with BlackBibs coming unstitched. I'm back to BlackBibs!
