Works as expected for cool to chilly rides - I pull it over my chin, ears and partway up my head and lock it in place with my helmet, which protects from some windchill but let's my head air out and not get me overheated. I'd say 40 degrees F is the comfort limit. I have a microfleece gaiter I wear when it gets lower than that; Saturday was 38 degrees and I tested this out, definitely noticed a chill on my ears and chin heading downhill. Also works great on my trainer in the garage as a combo ear-warmer and sweat band. I doubt you'll find a better gaiter for $10.
